The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Re-Opens | Cleveland Bricks
As we slowly start to re-enter the world, some happy news was just announced. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has re-opened! Just like other re-opened attractions, there are some new changes. Let’s take a look at what it will be like to spend a day at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
Make Your Reservations
The zoo is open by reservation only. Make a reservation and purchase tickets online, this will give you access to the zoo 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. Ticket pricing is $12.95 for children 2-11, $14.95 for seniors, $16.95 for adults, children under 2 are free. One extra step the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is asking that “the most vulnerable of the population” visit from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. On another nice note, the zoo is open rain or shine! New Changes
According to their website, there are some new changes that the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo have made for the safety of visitors. Handwashing stations are available through the zoo, and high contact areas will be sanitized frequently, and additionally, the capacity of visitors will be “reduced by approximately 75%”.
The Cleveland Metroparks also states the following exhibits and attractions are closed:
- All playground areas
- The Contact Yard and Camel Ride
- Tram service
- The Sarah Allison Steffee Center
- Interiors of certain buildings including the Primate, Cat & Aquatics building may be closed at times depending on capacity or staff limitations.
Shopping and Eating Options
Concession stands are open. Or bring your own picnic and enjoy the pavilion. Social distancing will be required when eating and the zoo does not permit alcoholic beverages or glass bottles. The Rainforest Cafe and Gift Shop will remain closed for the time being. All other gift shops will be open. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo employees will wear masks. Guests are encouraged to wear masks as well.
The Main Attraction
As always the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo works hard to conserve wildlife. This park offers many exotic animals to view and learn about. From dainty aquatic life to the mighty zebra, there is something new to see and discover every visit. For instance, did you know that an electric eel can grow to 91 inches and weigh 100 pounds? Or that a snow leopard can jump 45 ft. with one pounce? That is the fun of a day at the zoo! So much to see and explore.

- Circle of Wildlife
- Waterfowl Lake
Get an Inside Peek
The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo program, Inside Tracks, provides a 90-minute learning experience that features 4 different spots located in the zoo. Visitors will learn about animal care and more. Tours are now available for Koala Bears, Aldabra Tortoises, The Indian Crested Porcupine, and The Wallaby. Groups of 2 or more need to register for this program for 2 weeks in advance.
