COVID-19 Spotlight – The Greater Cleveland Food Bank | Cleveland Bricks

The people of Cleveland are resilient, in hard times we come together. That is what makes The Greater Cleveland Food Bank so vital. They have been serving our community for over 40 years. In 2019 their team fed over 300,000 people in Cuyahoga and surrounding counties alone.
During the pandemic, the community of Cleveland needs The Greater Cleveland Food Bank now more than ever. As we are writing this, Greater Cleveland Food Bank is activating a disaster plan to feed hungry families during the coronavirus pandemic.
The disaster plan activation will help provide weekend bags of food through the Backpacks for Kids program at additional sites and distribute emergency food boxes with a seven-day supply of nonperishable food for households in need, particularly seniors.

The Mission
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s mission – “To ensure that everyone in our communities has the nutritious food they need every day.” To accomplish this they provide groceries, hot meals, mobile pantries, and more. They also offer programs for seniors and other non-profit organizations.
The Fight
By partnering with the Boys and Girls Club, and other groups, thousands of children are fed daily, especially in the summer. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank goes beyond the next meal, they help low-income families with benefits they are entitled to. They also connect them with other nonprofits that help with housing, employment, and health.
The Plan –
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank relies on – Donations, Volunteers, and Advocates to end hunger in Northeast Ohio. Their goals through 2021 are:
