Spring is in the air, and we have been indoors for what feels like forever. City parks are open, while we still have to practice social distancing, it is great to take the kids and the dog for a walk in the park! Cleveland is filled with fascinating outdoor locales that are amenities special to our community. Let’s take a look at some of the best parks in the city.

 

Edgewater Park

Take a stroll on the beach! Edgewater Park has over 9,000 feet of waterfront on over 130 acres of land. This family-friendly spot is a lovely place for children to burn off excess energy and parents to enjoy the beautiful scenery that makes this city special. Bring your camera and capture the moment forever at the many picturesque locations available in this great park. Edgewater is also a great place to bike, and some areas are dog friendly.

 

Big Creek Reservation

Big Creek Reservation runs from Brooklyn all the way to Strongsville. Enjoy a 2.4-mile walk on the Lake to Lake trail. Soak in the splendor of Lake Issac and Lake Abram! With over 170 acres of wetland marsh, this trail offers something new to see every visit. One of the most gorgeous areas near Cleveland, this trail is excellent for walking, biking, and is wheelchair accessible.

 

Brecksville Reservation

This 3,026-acre reservation is home to the Chippewa Creek, Sleepy Hollow golf course, and Deer Lick cave. Multiple high-quality trails dot the landscape and are perfect for walking and hiking. 18 exercise stations are a wonderful addition to this park that can add to the physicality of your walk or hike. Be sure to notice the plant life on your next visit. Brecksville Reservation is known to host uncommon, unique, and even at risk vegetation.

 

Hinckley Reservation

This lovely park has paved trails, a sandy beach, and Whipps Ledges. Hiking, biking, horseback riding trails, this place is worth the drive. Whipps Ledges sandstone rock formations are a must-see. The ever-changing views keep walkers motivated, and the peaceful atmosphere will make you want to return to this spot again and again.

 

Ohio & Erie Canalway

One of the best Cleveland outdoor activities spaces has to be the Ohio & Erie Canalway. The Towpath Trail, America’s Byway, and the Cuyahoga Scenic Railway are highlights of this special park. With over 100 miles to discover, plan an adventure at this amazing place! Biking, hiking, bird-watching, and boating there is something for everyone here.

 

North Chagrin Reservation

North Chagrin Reservation has many fascinating spots to explore. Sunset Pond, Sanctuary Marsh, and a castle! From the bustling waterfowl, including the stunning blue heron, to Maniki Golf Course. Pack a picnic and enjoy the relaxing environment in this marvelous park. Add this fabulous park to your Spring/Summer bucket list.

 

Cleveland is filled with some well known and hidden gems. As we begin to leave our homes, now is the perfect time to explore the best of Cleveland’s outdoor activities.
