A day at the beach

Many of us love to head to the beach every summer. Beautiful Lake Erie has many scenic spots that are perfect for making sandcastles, watching the waves roll in, and swimming. As of June 3rd here are a few open beaches:

*We recommend checking out the Metroparks website for updates while making any beach day plans.

Huntington Reservation

Huntington offers a wide variety of activities. Swimming, hiking, boating, and paddleboarding to name a few. Huntington has beautiful sandy beaches and lovely lake views. This reservation even has a patio dining named E55 On The Lake. They offer burgers, pizza, and cocktails. Reservations are required, call 216.431.3349.

Edgewater Beach

Edgewater is another Lake Erie wonder. This space has plenty of attractions and a soft beach area. Choose from swimming, biking, and paddlesports. Bring your fishing gear, this amazing park has a fishing pier! Don’t forget to try the Edgewater Beach House for a tasty Summer treat.

Euclid Beach

Once home to the famed Euclid Beach Amusement Park, this beach offers sun and shaded areas. Euclid Beach has a reservable pavilion with grills, play area, and picnic tables. While you are there, enjoy the stunning lake views and city skyline from the Euclid Beach Pier.

Kalahari Resort Re-opens

Located in Sandusky, Kalahari is an indoor waterpark and hotel. With fanciful rooms and charming decor, this resort is a hit year-round. Jaw-dropping waterslides are the main attraction. Other favorites include a lazy river, a children’s area, an indoor-outdoor jacuzzi. Cleveland summer’s provides an extra bonus, the outdoor pool and lounge area. Kalahari has many dining options, and some rooms are equipped with a full kitchen. Kalahari will re-open its doors on June 12th.

Cedar Point

Sadly the roller coast is still closed. A message from the Vice President and General Manager Jason McClure states:

“As the coronavirus (COVID-19) matter remains a part of our daily lives, the team at Cedar Point continues to work with health and safety experts as we plan for increased safety measures and operational changes throughout our park. We are in constant communication with our state and federal governments and are looking forward to welcoming you back just as soon as it is safe to do so.”

While we wait, the park is running a contest that will afford the winner free admission for life. Learn more here.

Camping

Camping is slated to be a big vacation destination this Summer. The safety of one’s own camper or tent is a wonderful way to spend time off. Many campgrounds are now open and practicing new cleaning and safety precautions. So if you can already smell the campfire and taste the s’mores, here are some campgrounds in Ohio to check out.

This Cleveland summer might be different from last year, but there are still amazing places to visit in the city! A road trip to Sandusky, an ice cream cone from Honey Hut, or a lazy day at the beach are Summer traditions we can still enjoy. We hope your Summer is sunny, safe, and healthy!
