Egyptian Art

 

The first CMA collection acquired, in 1913, was Ancient Egyptian. Beautiful colors, jewelry, and reliefs are absolute wonders to behold! Highlights of this extensive compilation include – 

 

  • The Coffin of Bakenmut, c. 1000-900 BC
  • Mentuemhat in Ecclesiastical Dress, c 667-647 BC
  • Statuette of Osiris, 664-525 BC

Armor Court

 

Possibly the most visually captivating exhibit in the museum, go back in time to the Armor Court.

View swords, coats of armor, and a set of 8 tapestries based on Virgil’s legendary poem, The Aeneid. Check out –
