The Buildings That Create Cleveland’s Skyline
More than just Terminal Tower, the Cleveland skyline tells a story. What buildings create our skyline? What happens in these structures?
Let’s find out.
200 Public Square
With 45 floors and over a million square feet of office space, 200 Public Square is the 3rd tallest skyscraper in Cleveland. Built between 1982 and 1985, it was first known as the BP Building.
Cleveland Trust Company Building
This impressive landmark was designed by the winner of a contest. In 1903, the Cleveland Trust Company needed more space. After the purchase of land, the next step was the look of the building. So a national contest was held and George Browne Post won. Today it is home to the supermarket Heinens. Stop by for a peek at its glorious rotunda.
Higbee’s Building
For over 70 years shoppers visited Cleveland’s first department store. This 12 story building was a huge part of Public Square from the 1930s-1990s. The building was even featured in the movie “A Christmas Story.” Today the Higbee Building is drawing people once again as home to Jack Cleveland Casino.
Key Tower
Soaring 57 stories at a height of 947 feet, the Key Tower is the tallest building in Ohio! Architect Cesar Peli was influenced by the art deco period for the Key Tower design. This grand building is still bustling with office space, a hotel, and a restaurant.
