With the new year coming up fast, Cleveland is already hot on its wheels to get the city moving. From updates to building new structures or from touring events to great arts settling in our city, there’s a majority of movement that’s going to make Cleveland in 2019 one of our best years yet.

MLB All-Star Game

A moment many baseball fans have been waiting for is the 90th Major-League Baseball All-Star Game (MLB ASG) that’ll be hosted by the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland in 2019. With the game comes the MLB All-Star FanFest, a chance for the fans to enjoy the interactive exhibits and autograph sessions during its July 5-9 run at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. It’s been over two decades since Cleveland played host to the All-Star Game.

Fun fact: Cleveland has hosted the All-Star Game six times — more than any other team. So step into the batter’s box, toe the rubber or just rub elbows with baseball legends, either way, you should be there.

Sustainable Cleveland

2019 will also bring the end of the Sustainable Cleveland initiative while commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Cuyahoga River fire. The city has come a long way from filling in landfills to learning about green living these days. There’ll be events throughout the year celebrating Sustainable Cleveland, making it a busy year for sure.

2019 will be a year of reflection of how far we’ve come and all that we’ve contributed and achieved in making Cleveland sustainable.

Cedar Point

Already a favorite, 2019 will bring an all-new interactive attraction, the Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island. This new ride includes a map, minute-by-minute real-life action, brains and brawn, and a whole lot of fun. Mark your calendars or make spontaneous plans to Cedar Point but remember, it’s going to be a different experience every time. Opening in summer  2019, this is already a massive addition to Cleveland’s list of attractions.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium

With the new year come newer and bigger opportunities but in this case – updates. Greater Cleveland Aquarium is becoming bigger and better (if that was even possible, looks like it always is!). A $250,000 investment will upgrade almost 75 percent of the Greater Cleveland Aquarium’s public space. We know this means more classrooms, more species in their own spaces and a bigger spotted turtle exhibit.

The people at Greater Cleveland Aquarium care for us more than we think as they’ve decided to keep the aquarium open throughout the renovations. All the updates are scheduled to be completed by the spring of 2019.

MOCA’s 50th Anniversary

One of our favorites is the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA to locals). MOCA, itself, is a work of art after moving into its new home since 2012. With three different galleries displayed a year, MOCA is open for everyone to swing by and enjoy all works of art.

The coming year will be the museum’s 50th anniversary. From March 22–July 28, swing by for Lee Mingwei’s self-titled exhibition that features four interactive projects.

Cleveland Brewery Passport

2019 is the year of traveling. Every year is, but Cleveland in 2019 will see a new scope of traveling. Pick up your brewery passport by visiting any of the participating 30 to make a purchase and earn stamps, and with a certain number of stamps, you can win giveaway prizes leading up to a weekend getaway in Cleveland. Almost like a bar crawl, but with bonus gifts and something to show for all that bar-to-bar travel.

Quick Loans Arena

Also known lovingly as “The Q,” this premier sports and entertainment arena located in the heart of downtown Cleveland is THE place to enjoy a night out with your friends and family. From Cavs basketball, Monsters hockey, and Gladiators football to world-class concerts and shows, this is the beloved arena of all shows in Cleveland. But this is all old and known, what’s new is the $185 million transformation on “The Q.”

What was better just became amazing. No wonder Cleveland got awarded the 2022 NBA All-Star game.

Cleveland Auto Show

Starting from late February to early March 2019, Cleveland Auto Show will feature all the latest manufactured vehicles from the world’s auto manufacturers. The show will also feature an array of entertainment including sports and celebrity appearances. Held at the I-X center, it’ll be one of the biggest attractions of Spring 2019.

Cleveland Content Marketing Expo

Coming in strong to Cleveland in 2019, the Content Marketing Expo & Conference in September will be bigger and better. The largest content event will be a hit for all upcoming creators, experienced veterans and curious eyes. Don’t miss out on one of the biggest events to get experience from, while having fun at the same time.
